How to Share Your X (Twitter) Bookmarks Publicly, One at a Time

You can't share your bookmarks on X (Twitter). They are always private, and there is no setting to show them to anyone else. With Birdfeeder you can make single bookmarks public. They show up on your own Birdfeeder profile page, and everything else stays private.
Why X bookmarks can't be shared
Private is the right default for most of what people bookmark. But now and then something is worth pointing other people to. On X, the only way to do that is to repost it, which is a different action with a different meaning. Bluesky and Mastodon bookmarks are private in the same way.
How to make a bookmark public in Birdfeeder
Every bookmark has its own visibility toggle. Switch one bookmark to public and it appears on your Birdfeeder profile. The rest stay exactly as private as they were. There is no switch that makes the whole list public at once.
The first time you make a bookmark public, Birdfeeder creates your public profile page for you. There is no separate setting to find first. It works for bookmarks from X, Bluesky, Mastodon and Nostr.
Private notes on a bookmark stay private, even when the bookmark itself is public.
Choosing your profile name
Your profile name is separate from your X or Bluesky username. It uses the same format as X handles: letters, numbers and underscores, up to 15 characters.
If you rename your profile later, the old name is not released. It just stops pointing to you. That means nobody else can take a name you gave up and pretend to be the page people used to visit.
